IDPA Match Report for April 27, 2019

Another IDPA match complete. Not a significant improvement from the prior match one week ago, but an improvement nonetheless. Time to practice for the next match.

I completed my fourth IDPA match on April 27, 2019 and the results were pretty similar to those of my third match one week prior.

I used the same equipment as I did in my previous 2 matches:

My overall score was 194.34 which was a 3.47 improvement over my 197.81 score last week. Since I felt I pushed too hard last week causing me to receive a number of procedural penalties and point deductions, I decided to slow down and focus on my shot placement and trigger control. With the exception of one non-threat penalty this time, my shot placement was significantly better. As a result, my raw time was down quite a bit making the overall score improvement negligible.

I’m still getting acquainted with the Sig Sauer P229 so I think that may have something to do with it. But, that sounds like more of an excuse. Between now and the next match, I’m going to continue to focus on practicing my draw and trigger control during dry practice sessions while focusing on my follow up shot placement and grouping during live fire range time.

I put together a little short video of the stages from this match from my point of view.

As always, it was a ton of fun and I encourage all gun owners (especially those who carry a weapon for self defense) to get out to these matches. It is a really good way to put your skills to the test in a fun and safe environment.
