Bringing an Uncle Zo class to your area is straightforward. All you need is access to a suitable range and some interested students. Everything else is negotiable. As a thank-you for organizing the class, the host receives one free slot to attend the training.
Host Responsibilities
Arrange Range Access
Most ranges across the country are set up primarily for members and won’t allow outside instructors to book space without a local connection. This is where you, the host, come in. If you own a range, the process is simple. If you’re a decision-maker or board member at a range, it’s usually straightforward. Otherwise, you’ll likely need to be a member in good standing to have your request considered. The best approach is to attend a board meeting and propose hosting a class. Come prepared with all the details, including class size and resource needs. A written proposal is ideal, and Uncle Zo will assist in creating one.
Arrange Required Resources
The resources needed depend on the class but typically include some combination of target stands, steel targets, barrels, or similar items. Uncle Zo will provide specific requirements based on the course.
Spread the Word Locally
Logistics come down to dollars and cents, so a minimum number of students is required to make a class happen. Uncle Zo will promote the class through social media, this blog, and existing alumni networks, but local outreach is key. As the host, you’re likely the best person to spread the word in your community, and your help is greatly appreciated.
