The debut of Springfield Armory’s 1911 DS Prodigy pistol has created a lot of buzz. I’m cautiously optimistic about it, but I’m fired up about the waves it may create for the 2011 platform in the defensive pistol market.
Every gun has a story and is a chapter in the life of its owner, especially the first firearm. With a little reflection we can discover a number of lessons learned from or with that first firearm. Here are some of mine.
There is no perfect everyday carry configuration for every situation. It’s very likely that more than a one configuration will be needed to cover different forms of attire. It will also most likely evolve over time as preferences and proficiency changes.
The Springfield Armory XD-S is a reliable single stack micro pistol that is easy to conceal and carry. However, I find it to be difficult to comfortably shoot well in .45 ACP.
