The struggle to find and afford ammo continues in 2021. As such, I’m revisiting the question of “how much ammo is enough” and share how my ammo goals have evolved with the current market conditions.
There are many different bullet types found in today’s ammunition. There are also some tried and true projectile designs that work.
How much ammo is enough? Short answer: no amount of ammo is ever enough. Long answer: read the post.
How powerful is the .500 S&W Magnum compared to common handgun cartridges? Very. Compared to other magnum pistol cartridges? Very, with one exception.
Are you using less ammo and spending less time at the range? If so, what are you doing with your time instead? I’m getting in a little dry practice, taking inventory, and cleaning the firearms.
.308 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor? There is a difference, but it’s not as big as those engaging in heated debates over it would like you to believe.
Take a list of available cartridges, filter out those whose ballistic capabilities are insufficient for the application, and sort by preference. That’s how I match my cartridge to the hunt.
10mm Auto or .45 ACP – which would you pick?
Selecting the ammo one’s life may depend on is a very personal choice.
