KR Training’s Advanced Handgun course tests a student’s technical pistol shooting skills against well known drills while offering practice tips to help improve specific skills needed to perform at higher standards. It’s also a ton of fun.
This was my journey through the KR Training Defensive Pistol Skills Program, a flexible 40+ hour training program designed to equip a responsible armed defender with the tools and knowledge needed to be prepared for a defensive encounter.

My after action report of KR Training’s Defensive Pistol Skills 3 course, the third and final class that focuses on defensive pistol use at close distances, which is only a subset of skills and tactics covered by their defensive pistol program.
Shooting a pistol well is hard. Shooting a pistol one-handed well is even harder. Shooting a pistol one-handed in low light conditions while also manipulating a light system… well that’s next level stuff.
There have been a few moments along my firearm and self defense skill building journey that I would call monumental. Attending my first force on force course is one of those and here is the after action report on it.
