Several of y’all have asked where I’ve been, and fair enough. It’s been quiet around here, and my social media activity has been flat. Part of the answer is a thing called AmmoFans, and I’ll get to it.
The short of it is that a raging arthritis flare-up around this time last year took several months to resolve. Then life happened. The details are plentiful, but they are also boring. Trust me, sparing y’all from them is a kindness.
While my range time and screen time both suffered, I haven’t been idle. There have been a few side projects in the works. And the point of this post is twofold: to tell y’all that I’m back, and to share a few details of what’s on the horizon.
I’m back
At least all signs are pointing that way. I don’t expect I’ll be at the range every weekend and publishing posts multiple times per week like I used to. At least not right away. I’ve got to ease back into it and figure out where my limits are now.
That said, I did shoot a local USPSA match a few weeks back and assisted with a class at KR Training a week or so later. I’ve also got a match coming up later this month, which y’all will notice is posted on something called AmmoFans. More on that in a minute.
New looks
You may have noticed the blog got a full makeover. The old content is still here, and it should be easier to find. I think it’s a lot easier on the eyes too. You’ll have to tell me what you think when you get a chance.
A new look was well overdue. The timing, though, is spot on. With what kept me away in the rearview mirror, this feels like a fresh start. But it’s more than that. It goes hand in hand with AmmoFans, which I’m about to get to.
Before that, there is one more new look to mention, and that’s the fresh digs UncleZo.deals is sporting. I’ll be honest, I neglected that site more than I’d like to admit, and it never got the use I’d hoped for. I could have retired it. Instead, I figured I owed it one more push. The new look isn’t lipstick on a pig, either. The engine that powers it got a tune up, so you’ll find fewer dead listings and better prices, and it’s getting better day after day. Go find a deal.
AmmoFans? What?
A handful of y’all know there’s a story behind that name, and I’ll tell it properly soon. The short version is that AmmoFans is a place to find shooters and events near you, practice with a plan, and see yourself improve. Shoot with others. Get better.
I’m more excited about it than anything I’ve built in a long while. Whether it lands with y’all remains to be seen, but if that sounds like what you’ve been missing, follow me on AmmoFans.
What’s next?
Well, it’s October. And that means deer season. Expect a few hunting related posts to land in short order.
I’ve also got a handful of skill development posts planned that go hand in hand with what will be happening on AmmoFans.
Beyond that? I don’t know. I haven’t planned that far ahead. And really, I just want to get out to the range and turn money into noise.
